Soil Structure Stability under Different Land Uses in Association with Polyacrylamide Effects
نویسندگان
چکیده
Soil structural stability is a vital aspect of soil quality and functions, maintaining sustainable land management. The objective this study was to compare the contribution four long-term land-use systems (crop, bush, grass, forest) coupled with anionic polyacrylamide (PAM = 0, 25, 200 mg L?1) application on soils in three watersheds Ethiopia varying elevation. Effect treatments indices were assessed using high energy moisture characteristic (HEMC, 0–50 hPa) method, which provides (i) water retention model parameters ? n, (ii) structure index (SI). (watershed), use PAM had significant effects shape curves (?, n) SI, diverse changes macropore sizes (60–250; >250 ?m). organic carbon (SOC) content SI strongly related pH, CaCO3 type-clay mineralogy, exchangeable Ca2+, Na+ (negatively). order (0.013–0.064 hPa?1) SOC (1.4–8.1%) by similar (forest > grass bush cropland). effect increasing (1.2–2.0 times), inversely content, being also pronounced from low (Vertisol) medium (Luvisol) elevation, cropland (Acrisol) Treating rate yielded greater (0.028–0.042 than untreated bush- grassland (0.021–0.033 hPa?1). For management faster improvement physical quality, properties, history should be considered together application.

Soil Respiration under Different Land Uses in Eastern China
Land-use change has a crucial influence on soil respiration, which further affects soil nutrient availability and carbon stock. We monitored soil respiration rates under different land-use types (tea gardens with three production levels, adjacent woodland, and a vegetable field) in Eastern China at weekly intervals over a year using the dynamic closed chamber method. The relationship between so...
متن کاملSoil-Borne Microbial Functional Structure across Different Land Uses
Land use change alters the structure and composition of microbial communities. However, the links between environmental factors and microbial functions are not well understood. Here we interrogated the functional structure of soil microbial communities across different land uses. In a multivariate regression tree analysis of soil physicochemical properties and genes detected by functional micro...

Microbial Activity and Phosphorus Availability in A Subtropical Soil under Different Land Uses
Land use changes in the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) of south Florida may alter microbial activity and organic matter decomposition and ultimately influence the fate of P in soil. The objectives of this study were to determine effects of long-term cultivation and fertilization on microbial activity and P dynamics for contrasting land uses in the EAA. Soils (0-15 cm) under pasture for 100 ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Different Land Uses on New Indices of Soil Quality in Central Alborz Region
Different land uses have various effects on the changes of soil properties. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of natural forest, needle-leaved plantation and rangelands of central Alborz on new indices of soil quality (i.e. organic matter stratification, carbon management index and soil biological activities). For this purpose, eight samples from organic layer (litter) and m...
